We just wrapped up today’s Electronic Workshop with Mike, Michael, Rocker, and Steve on the benches. They spent their Saturday afternoon learning all the ins and outs of the electronics in their guitars: how potentiometers, switches, and capacitors work, how to read a schematic and wiring diagram, and how to properly make mods to their instrument. They’ve all made modifications with their new-found soldering skills: wiring mods, pickup installs, no-load tone pots – and each have gotten ever closer to the tone they’ve been hearing in their head.
The best part of all this is that these gentlemen now know enough to confidently make changes to their guitar anytime they want, and aren’t held hostage by having to take their instrument to a tech! We may be slowly putting ourselves out of business by giving away all of our secrets…
