We have a LOT of guitars come through our shop. Our invoicing system is sequential, starting from 1 – right now we’re on 6891. We average about 40 guitars a week. That’s a TON of work… how do we stay on task? We rely on our calendar program, iCal:
Our calendar is our anchor at the shop – without it, we’d be doomed. We schedule every job and appointment on it, color coded for each tech. There’s no guessing as to what’s going on the bench next – we come in every day knowing exactly what we’re going to do, how long it’s going to take, and who is going to do it. This allows us to be as efficient as possible, and helps us get your guitar back to you as soon as possible. We really strive to meet our deadlines as closely as possible – because we know how much it sucks to be without your guitar. Sure, sometimes some jobs expand in scope, or we’re held up by drying glue or curing finishes – but we’re right on time, most of the time.
We also make appointments for our customers who can’t be without their guitars for too long. Simply give us a call, and we’ll block out the time that your job will require. Then you can just drop the guitar off the day before the work is scheduled, and pick it up the day after in most cases. Even though our lead time on work is generally only 2 weeks, it’s pretty sweet to be able to get your guitar back in 2 days, no?
Standard setups are almost ALWAYS done in a week or less; larger jobs are put at the end of the cue. Need some work done fast? Give us a call and we’ll set up an appointment for you.
