Of course, it’s not what you think: it’s actually bone dust. We sand down a bunch of different materials around here, and it’s a good idea to rescue some of the dust for various projects. We’ve got little bags and cannisters of rosewood, ebony, and bone dust stashed away in the shop, which we sometimes use for filling gaps under fret tangs, nut slots, divots in fretboards, and other applications. With the right blend of dust and glue, we can blend in fills in lots of different materials that you can’t even see with the naked eye.
