Michael is a guitar technician and PLEK operator from Dallas, Texas. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 2012 with a degree in psychology and an emphasis in behavioral neuroscience. Before repairing guitars, Michael spent several years researching experimental surgical and pharmacological approaches to treating migraines and chronic pain as well as ways to identify schizophrenia in adolescent populations. During those years, Michael gained many skills that he would later use to repair and modify guitars, such as fine surgical motor skills and a painstaking attention to detail.
In 2015, Michael graduated at the top of his class from the Eastern School of Fretted Instrument Repair in Freehold, New Jersey; he studied under Joe Civitano, Kyle Roggendorf, and New Jersey legend Sunny Kenn. That same year, he organized the first classroom-based Buzz Feiten training course. Michael is a member of both the Guild of American Luthiers and the Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans. In his free time, he plays in hardcore punk bands based in Oakland and Long Beach.
